Welcome to the I.C.T. DepartmentTeachers within the ICT department are firmly committed to raising the achievements of all students, by
developing their computer skills through a wide range of enjoyable and purposeful activities.
Year 9 students & year 10 options students are working towards the OCR Nationals Level 1 (D to F grades)
or Level 2 (A to C grades) which are an exam-free alternative to GCSEs, taking a more engaging, practical
approach to learning and assessment. In the first year students work on two units and they are assessed throughout the year. The first unit they
work on is a company called Ash Animal Home – in this project students use Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet and School Email to create a professional business. For the second unit students will create a simple animation for a company called Smoothie World – in this
project student’s will learn how to use the different tools in Flash to create an animation. Year 7 & 8 students work on different projects each term, to help them develop their IT skills and prepare
them for year 9 OCR coursework.
