Golden Curriculum

Ashford Christ church prides itself on the outstanding achievments of our more dedicated students.

The Golden Curriculum is an AEN department which caters for pupils who need additional support to access
the National Curriculum. Pupils are taught in small classes of upto 18 pupils and have an Learning Support
Assistant constantly working alongside them. Work is highly differentiated according to individual needs
with additional emotional and social support available when required.

The Golden Curriculum is a key stage 3 provision for pupils with a variety of additional educational needs.
NC levels have ranged from P8 to level 4 . Pupils needs are assessed on transition from year 6 according
to recommendations from primary schools, KS2 SATs and CAT scores. Needs range from complex issues
to academic and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

There are 2 classes of up to 14 pupils per year group, taught by a  limited number of teachers and in
set rooms with a dedicated TA. This is to help give a sense of security for pupils who often have very
little self confidence and very low self esteem. National Curriculum schemes of work are followed and
differentiated to the appropriate levels and for individuals, however, the  emphasis is  on advancing
literacy, numeracy and social skills.
