Physical Education Department

Physical Education at Ashford Christ Church is taught by six highly qualified and educated members of staff.
The school hosts an areay of fantastic facilities including

  • An indoor climbing wall
  • A multipurpose sports hall
  • A hard court area for netball and tennis
  • A 3G pitch
  • A variety of pitches and tracks on the school fields
  • A gymnasium

Physical Education is regarded as an important subject. It is not simply about 'letting off steam', but a subject
that can educate a child through a variety of physical activities.

A variety of sports are offered within the curriculum in both key stage 3 and 4. Sports offered include;

At Ashford Christ Church we aim to:     

  •  Develop pupils’ competence and confidence to take part in a range of physical activities that become a
    central part of their lives, both in and out of school.
  • Offer a high-quality PE curriculum which will enable all pupils to enjoy and succeed in many kinds of
    physical activity.
  • Develop a wide range of skills and the ability to use tactics, strategies and compositional ideas to
    perform successfully.
  • Encourage student performance and to think about what they are doing, analyse the situation and
    make decisions.
  • Allow pupils’ to reflect on their own and others’ performances and find ways to improve them.
  • Develop the confidence to take part in different physical activities and learn about the value of healthy,
    active lifestyles.
  • Encourage pupils to discover what they like to do, what their aptitudes are at school, and how and
    where to get involved in physical activity
  • Help pupils’ make informed choices about lifelong physical activity.
  • Educate pupils through PE to develop personally and socially.
  • Promote working as individuals, in groups and in teams, developing concepts of fairness and of
    personal and social responsibility. 
  • Support pupils’ to take on different roles and responsibilities, including leadership, coaching and
    officiating.
    Through the range of experiences that PE offers, pupils’ learn how to be effective in
    competitive, creative and challenging situations.
