Welcome to the Maths Department

We are really looking forward to sharing our skills and knowledge in Maths with you and
hope you really enjoy a subject that you do every moment of your life, no matter where
you are.  Now, that is sexy.

Introduction

Teachers within the Maths department are firmly committed to raising the achievements of all students,
by developing their application of number and how maths functions within society. The maths curriculum
changes as new ideas are realised but the foundations that it is built on never changes; solving problems
and applying maths through mental methods and number skills through reasoning.  It involves shapes and
measures, data from tax bills to phone bills and the concept to make it simple, algebra – the common
unknown by using a letter. As well as homework and extended projects students are reminded that they
should use
mymaths.co.uk to further develop their skills in different subject areas. Each student has a
unique logon and can access the material on the Internet at any time day or night!
 We want our students
to understand their maths, experience the enjoyment and grow in confidence with their knowledge.

Four topics, two tiers but one result.

Equipment for Maths

You can only remember so much, so the need to write things down is really important. A maths lesson without
a pen or pencil is like eating without teeth – difficult and hard to get down.10:13:22
