Max sat the Applied Art and Design: double Award exam earlier this summer and the results, issued this month, show that out of 3138 candidates, Max achieved one of the highest overall marks. Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel’s Managing Director, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their exams. We send our congratulations to Max.” In addition to this success Max also achieved 8 A*- C grades including another A in Design Technology: Resistant Materials. Catherine Barber, Head Teacher of Ashford Christ Church, extended her congratulations to all GCSE students and staff on a year of significantly improved performance at the school. The standard of attainment improved in 14 different GCSE subjects with notable gains in Home Economics, Drama, Music, ICT, BTEC Sports and Resistant Materials. Core subjects also improved: mathematics +7% A*-C, English Literature +5% A* - C and Science +14% A* - C. The overall performance figures are up 5% on last year. Catherine Barber said, “there are excellent performances across the board both by individual student and subjects. I am delighted that the hard work of all students and staff has been acknowledged in these outcomes.” In addition to this the following students achieved outstanding grades: - Sophia Cullingham - 13 Grade A*-C including 4 Grade A* BTEC Sports 3 Grade A
