Year 6 Student Information Area

Welcome to Ashford Christ Church below are a few links to specific points of information available within the
Ashford Christ Church website. As well as links to Year 6 Competition Area within our online classroom area.
You know that school is a place to learn about many new and amazing things. At Ashford Christ Church we
believe ‘new life’ can come from ‘learning’.

Ok well first the obvious: The normal useful equipment you MUST bring with you every day are a pen, pencil,
ruler and your Planner which you will be given on your first day in September. It is also useful to bring a
calculator on days when you have maths and a bottle of water to drink during the day.
*NOTE: AT NO TIMES IS FOOD OR DRINK TO BE CONSUMED WITHIN THE COMPUTER ROOMS, You should
vacate the the Rooms to consume drinks at all times, and you will NOT be allowed into Computer rooms until
Food or Drink has been Finished.

Community

A ‘community’ is a group of people who share the same experiences or belong to the same place. Your school
is a community as you share your experience of learning with other students. At Ashford Christ Church you will
also belong to a Community which is a group of students and teachers who you will work with during FORM
TIME and enjoy ASSEMBLIES with. They Are ASH, ELM, FIR, OAK and YEW. For more detail for specific
communities Click the corresponding link to your community on the left. Each community has a Head of
Community and Pastorial Support Manager. Your Community will also have 12 Senior Students. These students
will be available to help you. They are easily reconizable as they wear black school shirts.

Spirtual Guidance

Christ Church is a Church of England school with its own chapel and Lay Chaplain Ian Rich, who can provide
spiritual assistance to those that need it.

Parents Evening Monday 5th July 6pm.

Taster Day Wednesday 7th July 9.15am  - 2.45pm.

Year 6 pupils should come to the playground where they will be met by staff.  Please wear your primary school uniform..

Form Time

Half an hour of the day in which to consider the ‘Thought for the Day’ and learn a bit more about personal,
social and health issues. Your form tutor will also check your uniform and equipment. They will agree targets
with you each term to help you improve your achievements.

Assemblies

Thirty minutes before lunch once a week spent in the hall with the whole Community. A time to think, listen,
laugh and learn.

Sports Activities

The PE Department organise Sports competitions throughout the year. Join a Community team to play Football,
Dodgeball and many more sports.

Trips

As well as Subject Specific trips, most Communities run trips at least once a year. These may be to Thorpe Park,
Alton Towers or Chessington. You could suggest a place to go to your HOC!

Cross-Curriculum Days

Joy Day... Health Day... Fun Day — A day to learn in a different way, with different people about one topic.
For more information on these days please refer to previous issue of the VOICE newsletter which is student
led and driven.

Extended Schools

Here at Ashford Christ Church we also have extended schools which also provides Clubs and events both
within normal school days but also outside normal schools days, during holidays, half terms etc please check
out the XS link to find out more information regarding extended school services and events available here
at Ashford Christ Church not only to our students but also many local community events and clubs. We are
always expanding our club lists so check back regularly for updated list especially for 6 Weeks break and Half
Terms these are normally finalised the last two weeks prior to holidays. This year we have provided different
event,clubs & activities for ecvery day covering all age groups. Not all these are solely on school grounds but
all or most are subsidised by extended schools and are often free to attend for most part.
